We were established as a charitable organization in 2009 and a nonprofit in 2012. Our therapists are are well educated, trained and supervised by a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.

Our desire is to provide affordable counseling to the community. To do so, our session fees are on a sliding fee scale which is based upon your monthly income and ability to pay.

It is our belief that everyone deserves to be nurtured and supported during their healing process; therefore, our mission has been to create a high-quality place of service for Clients that is financially accessible. Our sessions are offered in a warm and peaceful environment.

We are by appointment only and would love to talk further with you about our services. Call or email us today to schedule an appointment.

Therapeutic Approach

Co-Founder Dr. Barry Orvell and Clinician, Carmen Isais

We seek to ground our counselors and coaches in the fundamentals of contemporary psychodynamic approaches (including Self Psychology, Object Relations, and Intersubjectivity) and at the same time honor the spiritual dimension of healing by offering training on transpersonal approaches. This integral approach is very effective in dealing with issues such as relationship difficulty, depression and anxiety, grief and loss, eating disorders and addiction recovery, and issues stemming from emotional, physical and sexual abuse.

While we offer brief, solution-focused modalities for individual and couples, we are structured to support long-term treatment whenever appropriate. Many of our interns remain at Life Compass until licensure. Therefore, clients frequently have the opportunity to deepen into a long-term, uninterrupted therapy with their counselor.

Our counselors are encouraged to discover their own authentic “voice” as a helping professional and many develop practice specialties including Cognitive Behavioral therapy, EMDR, Jungian Archetype Test, Narrative therapy and Control-Mastery therapy. Our counselors meet with clients on weekdays, evenings, and weekends.

The directors and staff of Life Compass are happy to answer questions and speak with you about the appropriateness of referrals. Lee Ockenden, L.M.F.T., is the Clinical Director of the Center. Carmen Isais, MA, CHT, is the Program Director. Please feel free to contact us.
